Borderlights are used to create general washes of colored light on the stage, and to light backdrops, scrims, and cycs from the top and/or bottom. They are also used along the bottom of a backdrop to create sunset effects. Fixtures are constructed as a row of lamps and reflectors in a single housing wired on 3 or 4 circuits. Stock sizes are usually 6 ft. to 8 ft. in length.
The cyc light is a single unit with asymetric distribution for even coverage of backcloths and cycloramas. There are many occasions when a broad light source resting on the floor is needed, lighting upwards to illuminate a drop, cyc, or groundrow. The light shades off towards the top, providing an attractive decorative effect.
Scoops produce a very diffuse, soft-edged beam of light. Scoops are ideal fixtures for color blending and creating smooth, even washes of light. These fixtures are used in theatre, television, and photographic studios as a floodlight, remote fill light, or a cyclorama fixture.
We offer a growing selection of LED lighting instruments for your production. If you need any help in selecting the right instrument for your specific application, feel free to ask us.
Ellipsoidal spotlights produce a high intensity sharp or soft edged beam. While primarily designed for theatre and studio applications, ellipsoidals are also useful in displays, show windows, museums and nightclubs where precision controlled accenting is desirable.
Ellipsoidals are the primary instrument for pattern projections.
